I have been using self-hypnosis personally since age 15, when I discovered it could help me overcome a phobia to needles, control pain, and lessen anxiety. After completing my doctorate degree and internship, I began to study hypnosis through many professional training associations. These included the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, the Hypnosis section of the American Psychological Association, and many medical schools offering specialized workshops and advanced applications for hypnosis. I am also grateful to have studied with Dr. Harold Crasilneck, Dr. David Cheek, Dr. Milton Erickson, Dr. William Kroger, Dr. Herbert Spiegel, Dr. Lewis Wolberg, and many, many other very gifted and talented teachers, mentors, and, ultimately, colleagues to me.
I began teaching my patients how to use self-hypnosis over twenty-five years ago. And I have been teaching clinical hypnosis to other professionals since 1980. Currently, I am Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Dr. Andrew Weil's Program in Integrative Medicine. My work and friendship with Dr. Weil over the past two decades has given me the privilege to observe the powerful and creative forces of healing within each person. And the mind-body connection, with its seemingly magical power of the subconscious mind for health and healing continues to intrigue and amaze me. I love teaching people how to access these abilities and talents within themselves.
I have prepared this album as if you were sitting face-to-face across from me in my office or living room. It is recorded as if I were right with you, helping you learn self-hypnosis to use your mind-body connection for healing, promoting health, achieving greater performance, overcoming anxieties and much more. The material in this album is very extensive and some have said that it was more than they needed to know about hypnosis. Personally, I don't think we can ever know enough about the beauty, magic and power of the subconscious mind.
