Here's to Life

by Guy Anthony

My music is something I hold dear to my heart. Growing up in Detroit my influences are obviously the greats; Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5 etc. My music is extremely special to me as I only record when I have something to say.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I've always enjoyed rap but moreso melodic rap. I grew up listening to Foxy Brown, Common, 2 Pac, Biggie, Nas and Jay Z. I've always been inspired by artists who can tell a complete story in 3-4 minutes. My single "Here's To Life" was inspired by Nas' track "Black Girl Lost". I loved how Nas managed to inspire the listener in 4 minutes max. I always said that if I were to ever record music, it'd have to be music that inspires a generation. "Here's To Life" is track that everyone can relate to..Everyone knows a girl that was abused by her father (mother) and turned to hard drugs because the pain she endured internally was unbearable. I personally know of a few DL (down low) men suffering from an addiction to sex as a result of molestation. They too, are victims whose stories need to be told.
