Album Notes
This soprano saxophone presentation is a collaboration of contemporary, traditional, Sacred and secular music with a twist of smooth/jazz. This project is still in its developmental stage with more musical pieces to come. The music effort was influenced by the loss of my father and pastor, Elder Charles A. Haney. Also with the encouragement of the Haney/Rhodes and Walker families, I have finally started the process of getting this out to the general public. On the first selection "Angels," I am accompanied by 2 background singers and dear friends, Charissa (Cissy) Cobb and Lisa Richardson. I am accompanied on acoustical guitar by Brian Wolski which is the third selection "Blue Bossa." The song "I'm Glad About It" is a song that I was often requested to play at my Aunt Leela and Uncle Mr.'s church. I have placed this song on this project in their honor. Amazing Grace is a piece that I recently performed on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show/Word Network in April of 2010 while accompanied by keyboardist Michael Gray and the band I play with the "Barons." Members of the Barrons are as follows: Jimmy Tubbs on guitar, Mike Holden on trumpet, Lucy Presson on trombone, Jeff Presson on trombone, Jason Wade on trumpet and harmonica, Jerry Lee on Alto Sax and Tenor Sax, Sam Knott on Baritone Sax and Tenor Sax, Mike Miles on drums, and David Newbill on bass. The recording engineer for this project is Ben Wolski. The tone quality of my soprano saxophone playing is patterned after the first singing voice I ever heard and that being the timbre of Jeannie Haney's voice, my Mother. Most of all, I give all the glory to the one who is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To God be the Glory!
