ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
My name is Jennifer Harris and I’m a singer/songwriter from the state of Texas. My journey with music began as a little girl. I always loved to sing and you would often find me in the back room of my house practicing to every soundtrack I could get my hands on. But it wasn’t until my late teens that God began to speak to me about writing my own songs. I really did not think that was possible since I didn’t even play an instrument. But I knew God was telling me to take the steps to learn how to write my music down. My dad bought my sister and me a piano and I started playing around on it. I took a group piano class, which was very helpful and God began to give me songs. They would just pour out of me. I guess it is a release to what is going on in life. At first these songs consisted a lot of the pain I was facing. God deals with you where you are. But as I allowed Him to heal me, I began to see that I was writing about this healing and hope. Instead of wallowing in my past and my fears I began to see light. I cannot express in words the gratitude I have for my Jesus. If you ask anyone who knows me they will tell you of the transformation that God has done in me. Now I express this through my music. I know that God desires to bring each life from this state into something more than we can imagine. I pray these songs shine a light of hope and peace into all who hear.

Divine Expressions
With each song built upon the foundation of God's Word, the lyrics and melodies draw you in, woo you to the heart of God in a very relevant way. Beautifully done!

Genuine, Heartfelt, Thoughtful, Eloquent, Deep, Approachable, Serene, Beautiful
There are very few Contemporary Christian Music works that I can take seriously as genuine expressions of the performer's everyday testimony and honest spiritual aspirations. Jennifer Harris has been added to those few CCM artists, and I do not use the word "artist" lightly. Jennifer has a beautifully lucid vision of and earnest appreciation for the old-and-ever-new work of God through human history and for what it means personally to journey through life in the presence and under the daily care of that God. Her musical testimonies to, reflections on and aspirations for such a life are exceptionally credible, beautiful and approachable in their poetic content, their musical execution and their disarmingly open, candid presentation. What Jennifer pours from her heart in these 12 musical offerings is an inspiring, healing balm which will reward the listener who takes it to heart and dwells on it.

Jenn plays her heart out and points others to Christ. The music and her testimony all give glory to God. I heard her play her music to hurting inmates and they were riveted to her playing. They told me she needs to record more songs, not just write them! Her heart-felt lyrics and voice can encourage the coldest of hearts...it melted mine!

Gospel music is a great format for singer/songwriters. The topical possibilities for lyrics and themes are infinite, and allowing songs with an underlying grandeur of scope to adopt a more personal feel is extremely effective in turning a good worship song into a great one. It certainly works here, as this young woman really puts her stamp of originality on these 12 soft pop tracks that are lilting, serene, honest, and incredibly sincere. As with a lot of gospel ballads, the overview of the tunes aren't initially dissimilar to standard contemporary love songs in feel and approach, but she wisely takes them a step further, incorporating spiritual lyrics that never seem out of place or forced. Backed by a band that is very adept at matching the vibe and strengths of her vocals, she is able to really drive home and solidify the harmonies while effectively flowing through songs that transition and build without stumbling in the least. Her voice exudes a confidence that is a must for songs like these, and it really makes these spiritual offerings something very moving to listen to.
