ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
These songs are from recordings I made over the last seven years. Usually within a few weeks of composing music I will go and record the songs with just piano and vocal. I chose to keep the original “demo” recordings because there is an authenticity to the music that I treasure. Autumn is a song inspired by a painting by Pissaro that hangs in the Getty museum in Los Angeles (http://www.flickriver.com/photos/saimo_mx70/2532430769/). Tracy's Song was written for my friend Tracy when she moved across the country (at her going away party many theatre friends helped sing this song with beautiful harmonies and rounds). Shine and Pieces of Me are songs that I wrote for my daughter’s school. I do want to thank my friends in songlab, Cortes Alexander, John Allee, Erica Gimpel, and Kevin Holmes . And to Rob and Hannah…..I am so grateful to you both. Namaste

mesmerizing...
if you're tired from a day's work and want to relax, shut all of the windows, put on "Shine" on your player, get your hot mug of coffee, kick back and let Helen's magical voice take you away on a journey.........

New to her music and enjoying her voice ....
I never knew this beautiful woman had the singing voice to match her stunning looks... "Stardust" takes me away and I am looking forward to more off her other albums. She has always been a favorite actress of mine - now I can enjoy her when I am painting or drawing in my studio or stargazing on long lonely nights.... very relaxing and beautiful.

Another great and sweet album
I was hear the last two Helen Slater albums, and now, this is a good new, a new one. I hear it many times since I recived it and I like very much, like the others. She has a magic secret, I don't know, the voice, piano notes or sentiment, but their music is beautiful

pure helen
I've had Helen's first 2 discs since their initial releases, and they were always faves. This new disc is "Helen concentrate", much more of that "Helen flavor". So for me this is fantastic. Just Helen at the piano with her special style cleanly and simply recorded. Put it on the home stereo and you have her over for a visit.

The songs are charming and touching, and though her other discs are amazing with the full ensembles, it seems this time she pours a little more of her soul into these tracks. It feels a lot more personal.

Granted, there was probably an economic consideration in doing a disc this way, but thank you Helen for sharing these gems. It's a great pleasure to get something this intimate from you.

For every Helen fan, this is a MUST.

Love the new material
Helen's new album is as good as her other releases, and those are still on my playlist. Great piano tracks and vocals that is truly a pleasure to listen to combine for a very likable CD. Highly recommended!
