Album Notes
This CD was pressed in small quantities and is VERY RARE. New Granada Records aquired this release when it's original imprint, Brave Noise Records, folded and merged with New Granada in 2004. There are not many of these left.

marc bianchi began recording under the moniker her space holiday in 1996. it started as a simple affair..just a four track, a couple of cheap microphones, a beat up drum set, a guitar, and the desire to make music on his own. it was never marc's intention to release any of his songs, in fact, his main focus at the time was actually spent on releasing other artists (flowchart, orange cake mix, aspera, etc) albums on his now defunct AudioInformationPhenomena label. it wasn't until he was approached to do a 12" ep by chocolate river industries that he realized that his music may make it beyond the safety of his bedroom. Since the release of the Audio Astronomy EP, hsh has worked with a handful of different labels including tigerstyle, no karma, motorway, clover, brave noise, skylab operations, and mush. over the past eight years hsh has toured the world with such artists as bright eyes, the faint, pinback, bob mould, american analog set. and has done remix work for REM, Elastica, duster, the faint, american analog set and many others. it has been a slow build from the get go. until the release of 2003's "the young machines" (mush/wichita,v2/& records) which reached #2 on cmj's top 200, garnered critical success in the music industry, even the 2004 polish idol winner monika brodka covered hsh's "my boy friend's girlfriend" earning her the polish equivalent to a Grammy for "debut single of the year". all of this has greatly expanded the hsh profile. so what now? There has been a lot of changes both personally and professionally for marc. After living in Austin, Texas for nearly three years, he decided to move back to california. He packed his bags and settled in to a little house in the middle of nowhere in northern california. And began recording tracks for his latest effort "the past presents the future." In extreme isolation and creative re-evaluation, the content of the her space holiday sound and meaning became much broader than on his previous works. though some of the "staple" her space holiday elements remain present, (minimal guitars, string arrangements, and simple beats) the lyrics have morphed from short sided, one person perspectives, into short stories starring characters and imagery that we all can find in our daily lives. in the end, leaving the listener feeling like they have experienced a collection of parables rather than a stack of confessions. desperation has been replaced by hope, and denial with responsibility. the songs on the past presents the future are not any less personal then those on the previous her space holiday albums. but the difference this time around, is rather then feeling like you are looking into the life of one songwriter, you walk away with a sense of getting a deeper glimpse into the world around you. Besides her space holiday, marc has been hard at work doing remixes, soundtracks, and venturing into film making. He is currently getting ready for the 2007 album release of his other project "xoxo, panda"

Something Blue
I've been a Her Space Holiday fan for quite a while and was pleased to see this rare EP available for sale. I feel I need to give a high five to someone.
This is far less electronic than his later works, and focuses more on his dreamy guitar riffs. Likely, these songs will sweep you off your feet. It's short unfortunately, but these four tracks work really well together and it makes for a fairly solid EP for Her Space Holiday collectors.
