by Highlonesome

The most honest and pure group to come around in ages. If Woody Guthrie had more balls and was fueled by piss and vinegar, you would have Highlonesome. Great band, great songs." - .357 String Band "

Album Notes
"Milwaukee's Highlonesome is, seemingly, a throwback. Yet, somehow, they manage to transcend their own genre. With ovbious influences such as Dylan, Hank Williams and Guthrie, the band takes the normally "back porch" approach of the genre straight to the pulpit. Without any pretension, banjo and auto harp float around a rhythm section made up of snare and stand-up bass. Whether it is their jangly cover of "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" or their droning "Hell Bent and Bottle Bound", the band manages to put just the right amount jump, wail or punch into each song."-Lane Klozier Maximum Ink Music Magazine
"Take the traditions of Hank Williams Sr., throw in the disposition of Hank Williams III, stir in some Carter Family Americana, and you’ve got one audacious recipe on your hands. The Milwaukee-based band Highlonesome have slowly but surely been making a name for themselves throughout the local music scene. The 3-piece folk/country group takes a more traditional approach to country music than its modern day contemporaries. Not quite fitting the cow punk/psychobilly genre, and definitely not fitting the mold of what a contrived country band on CMT embodies. Highlonesome are determined to do it their way, or no way."-Andrea Jenels Alt Magazine

Right On
A big thank you to Noah Tyson. As a 357 fan I crave this acoustic, in studio, back to basics, bad ass, hard core "I've been around" music. Hauntingly upbeat and deeply disturbing. Great, great self-loathing music. Loved it.

Freakin' awesome!!!
Stumbled across this CD by a recommendation from CD baby and wow am I glad they did. This is just awesome, great songs with a dark/spooky undertone to them. I don't read long reviews, so I'm not going to write one... just buy it and see for yourself!!!
