ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Back through the old days there were a few musicians who played some good old time traditional blues so now end then. Through the times they drank with each other and of course they talked a lot ‘bout the blues and how to play it right. The recepy was; a jazzy type of playin’ drums with a loud jazzy type walkin’ upright bass. This must be completed with jazzy impartial jazz cords on guitar and on the 88’s. And last but not least a very blues oriënted type of vocals and solo’s on every instrument. We found out, this is not regular blues but they like to call it right now West-Coast Blues developed by great blues men like T-Bone Walker, Robert Lockwood, ‘Little’ Walter Jacobs and others. A really swing type of blues exactly right for dancing! Later in the mid seventies good guys like James Harman, Kim Wilson, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson, Al Blake, Hollywood Fats and many others made this type of swing-blues popular in the West-Coast area in America. Today it is back right here in Holland. The name is called Sugadaddy & The Honeydrippers! They play like hell! Even without rehearsals they play new en own written songs like they would have trained for months. Al though we can’t give you an expression how we sound live, but let me tell you live this band goes really out of their head and more special the audience react even more crazy when this band is swingin’. We did some garage recordings with a few mic’s and try to give a real example how they sound. We hope you’ll like this way of experience the blues West-Coast Style. You will be hear from us soon with several new recordings and hope to see you all soon on a live performance. Personell on these recordings; ‘Sugadaddy’ (Paul vd Berg) vocals and on the 88’s, Hans ‘Dixmeyer’ Niemeijer on the big upright, the mighty Wessel Batista on th drums, Erik ‘Harmaniac’ Niemeijer on Hohner harmonica’s and not the least but the last star is ‘The Kid’ (TBerg) on guitar’s. At last .., thanks for readin’ and hope you’ll enjoy these recordings.
