The Hounds are a 7-piece traditional swinging jazz group made up of Perth’s next generation of “young jazz lions”. In recent times they have turned their attention to the music of the great Duke Ellington. They draw from the vast Ellington library to celebrate his music and spirit, not to replicate. All the Dixiland and Trad hits plus originals are thrown in for a good time.
The Hounds pride themselves on high energy and entertaining performances feeding on swinging melodies, raucous group improvisation and a driving rhythm section.
“…enough raw energy to power a small town…” audience member 2006
