Downbeat magazine "Best of 2010," 4 stars.
"Levy's harmonica playing is startlingly fluid and full of the technical prowess that would be expected from the genre's top saxophonists."

Balkan Samba Records proudly releases harmonica virtuoso Howard Levy's first ever solo CD, Alone and Together.
Howard Levy has played on hundreds of recordings as a guest artist or a band member (there are too many to list here, but you may know him as a founding member of Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, from recordings in the 90s by Kenny Loggins and Trio Globo, and Donald Fagen in more recent years). Howard shows his brilliance on both harmonica and piano on Alone and Together, performing on both instruments simultaneously for many tracks. On others, they were recorded together my means of overdubbing. A few tracks feature multiple harmonicas and percussion, all recorded by Howard in his home studio, complete with a 1923 Steinway A piano. The material includes free improvisations, original compositions, blues and several well-known jazz standards.
All music was recorded from May to September 2008 at Howard’s house (AKA Levyland Studios) in Evanston, IL. Tracks 3 and 10 were played simultaneously on piano and harmonica. On Tracks 2 and 11, piano was recorded first. On tracks 4,5,7,9, and 13, harmonica was recorded first, piano or percussion afterwards. No click or metronome were used in recording.
