The High Point University Toccatatones have a lot to sing about these days. The group, which is closely approaching its 10th year in existence, released its second studio album recently.
The album, “Hits from the Pitch Pipe,” is a compilation of the hard work and dedication put forth by the group’s 14 members. The album includes a variety of music genres, as well as some of the group’s most popular songs.
“We’re very excited about the release of our new album, as it’s the first album the group has released in nearly five years,” says Harris Walker, business and publicity manager for the Toccatatones.
The group’s first album, A Gentleman’s Club, was released in 2005.
“We truly feel that this new album represents the personality and talent of the Toccatatones,” Walker adds.
The members remain highly committed to the success of the group – they even gave up spring break in 2009 to remain at HPU to record the album. Although Walker says it was a rigorous week, the group finished the entire album during that period.
A portion of the proceeds from the album will benefit the group’s philanthropy, the Save the Music Foundation. The foundation seeks to enhance music education programs in schools throughout the nation.
The High Point University Toccatatones is one of the most popular collegiate a cappella groups in the region. The group regularly performs for packed audiences around the southeast. Formed in 2001, the group is comprised of 14 students from a variety of backgrounds and areas of study. In addition, the group has performed for Fortune 500 executives and even former heads of state. The group also makes a strong commitment to performing for a variety of charitable organizations and schools across the Triad.
