Creating the second volume of a musical production is always a great challenge for any artist, especially when the first one was as successful as Hallacas con Flauta. Besides, we are filling the need to keep refreshing the musical heritage of the Venezuelan Christmas.
Furthermore, we are responsible to teach our children the songs that identify ourselves as Venezuelans. I feel so proud when a grandmother presents her grandson to sing one of the carols of Hallacas con Flauta anywhere in Venezuela. We are still working on this dissemination and we need to keep divulging our traditions; that is why we put together this new production.
This year, more people attended the party and they brought drums, furros, charrascas, pianos, cuatros, bass, bells … many friends came wanting to sing and play. We heated more hallacas, the pork roast was eaten to the bone and the chicken salad was almost gone. We got additional eggnog, because the Christmas spirit pervaded us all, and my friends are a happy bunch of partiers! Once again, thanks to the magic of music, we embraced in brotherhood and hope.
Apart from interpreting gaitas, parrandas and carols, we dared to sing songs that reflect the Christmas spirit on other latitudes. In my euphoria, I even composed my first gaita. When we are happy and full of love, anything is possible.
You just have to feel the music: so, enjoy it! Merry Christmas!
