The Swedish jazz band: "Ida Karlsson Quartet" started playing together in 2009. They play only Ida Karlssons compositions and are influenced by jazz from the 1960-ies and Swedish Folk Music.
Circles can be viewed as a collection of jazz influenced compositions that through the quartet's well-honed interactions become gentle, ear-pleasing music. You can also see it as a picture of changing emotional states. The feeling of longing. The central message in Circles is a feeling of hope. To jump up in a hot air balloon and drift away. To break vicious circles and patterns. To breathe fresh air.
The Band consists of: Gunnar Åkerhielm, piano. Kristoffer Rostedt, drums. Josef Karnebäck, double bass
and Ida Karlsson tenor saxophone.
Their first album "TURNS" was released in 2010.
