ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"What A Friend" is an intimate journey of worship that contains ten of Ingrid's favorite hymns arranged especially for string quartet and violin duets with piano, B3 organ, French horn and guitar.

Violinist Ingrid Chun performs regularly at Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl as a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. With the orchestra and as a soloist, she has shared the stage with many of the great artists of our time in the prestigious concert halls of the world. Besides her busy orchestra concert schedule, she performs as a soloist and chamber musician. In 2005, she made her solo debut with the LA Philharmonic at the Disney Concert Hall. She can be heard on Grammy award winning and nominated albums with the LA Philharmonic, as well as various classical, pop, film, gospel, and commercial projects.

Ingrid was born into a family of church musicians and began her musical training at age 5 on piano and violin. Upon winning the National Music Competition in Taiwan, she came to the United States and studied with Almita Vamos, Alice Schoenfeld and then went on to earn both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Music from the Juilliard School as a scholarship student of the famed Dorothy DeLay. Her training also includes four years of private study with jazz keyboardists Terry Trotter and Mark Harrison as well as film music composition at UCLA. She is an accomplished player of the Chinese violin, the erhu, and enjoys arranging and improvising on piano and her five-string electric violin.
