ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In Mulieribus (the Latin phrase meaning “amongst women”) is a female vocal ensemble dedicated tot he promotion and enrichment of community through the art of music with a focus on works written primarily before 1750.

It accomplishes this mission through live, historically informed, professional performances; through sound recording projects; and through relationships and donations made to local not-for-profit organizations that support women in need.

Charming, beautiful, well-informed
The scholar-singers of In Mulieribus know how to phrase this difficult music: their attention to the ebb and flow of dissonances and unison/fifth resolutions brings out the elegant wonder of this music which so often can be rushed through or over-sung. Consistent tuning, subtle yet clear diction, and rhythmic sophistication are just a few of the many strengths of this ensemble, whose glorious solo voices seamlessly blend into a greater whole. A must-have!

A Great Choice
You will not go wrong with this album. It is a beautiful collection sure to lift the spirit.

Stunning!
There isn\'t really much more to say; this music is both soothing and inspiring. A great addition to your collection of polyphony. Great background for prayer or for quiet meditation.

Notre Dame de Grace
If we could only hear the angels with whom we join our voices in praise of God\'s majesty in the Mass. Surely this is how they would sound.

If you loved their first CD...
...you have to hear this one. Like their last CD, they manage to unite scholarship, performance excellence, and accessibility. It explores a greater range of repertoire, including Renaissance polyphony (Victoria, Palestrina, Morley, Morales), which is precisely the music I was aching to hear them sing after listening to their first CD. I\'m not sure that there is anything else like this on the market: women\'s voices taking on this music with vigor and excellence. There are revelations here too, such as Portum in ultimo and Machaut\'s Quand j\'ay l\'espart. There is not a note out of place. It is very inspiring CD too, not only for women who aspire to sing this music but for anyone interested to see how this early music can speak to us so magnificently in our time.
