NEW JERSEY SKA LEGENDS INSPECTER 7 RELEASE 3RD FULL LENGTH ALBUM, ESCAPES AND ILLUSIONS
Inspecter 7, has been at the forefront of the ska scene since their formation in 1992. Hailing from New Brunswick, NJ, Inspecter 7 is headed by front men Giuseppe Mancini and Rev. Sinister In addition to their three full length albums, Inspecter 7 has been included on numerous ska compilations and has toured the US and Canada.
Reverend Sinister punctuates the album with his aggressive vocal style while Mancini is the melodic crooner. 2013 brings a new lineup to the 8 member ensemble featuring Jenny Whiskey on Tenor Saxophone, James Kelly on Trombone, Rob George on guitar, Reggae Bob on bass guitar, and Pip on drums. Many of these names sound familiar to local music fans because they are veterans of the New Jersey and New York ska scenes.
Inspecter 7 introduces their third full-length album, Escapes and Illusions, with the cultivation of a mature, energetic ska sound, pierced by punchy brass and guitar solos. Produced by reggae favorite Tim “Predator” Boyce, Escapes and Illusions was a labor of love for Mancini. Many of the tracks found on this album are stories based on the personal experiences of Mancini and Inspecter 7. Sea Hag, one of Mancini's personal favorites on the album, tells a tale of the crazy nightlife in the shore town of Belmar, NJ. They Say is another band favorite; it showcases the rhythmic back and forth vocal technique between Mancini and Rev. Sinister. They Say describes dealing with the economic day-to-day life of the working poor. The story-telling approach of Escapes and Illusions is also apparent in songs like Milk Man and On the Run, Do or Die.
Escapes and Illusions will be on sale January 15, 2013 in record stores locally and nationally and will also be available through the Little Dickman Records website littledickman.com and through amazon.com.
