ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The "Here I stand" single is an expression of the deepest aspects of myself. The raw places in my soul that I have travelled to over the last years of my life. The places I felt I needed to let go and the places I needed to stand firm and resist the temptation to capitulate to a way of being that didn't honour my true self. The Goddess Ishtar journeyed to hell and back to save her lover and in the process she had to shed seven veils or layers of her personality (hence the dance of the seven veils) Its not really about being physically naked, thats easy, but getting emotionally naked and exploring the raw often unacknowledged parts of ourselves, thats what can feel like hell. If we dont do it though a part of us stays in hell, so we are unfulfilled and without the passion we could have. Ishtar recovers her lover and resurrects herself in all her passion filled glory. This single is my tribute to her and to any one game enough to make a similar journey. You cant make it just by thinking about it or by trying to think pleasant thoughts, you cant get there through your intellect you have to travel through your feeling life to free the serpant, the dormant energy that lies within you. The snake was at one time seen as a source of power and protection not as evil. Ishtar was also a war Goddess who protected her people with the aid of these creatures against those that would attack her people. The snake sometimes also called Kundalini, is our life force. Reclaim yours now and refuse to let fear determine your life, let go of what you don't need and stand on what is true for you!
