Coming from a musical family, Jaime Taylor embraced the art and her love for music at an early age. Her musical journey started at the tender age of 5, when she asked her parents if she could take piano lessons. Soon, her love of the piano would blossom into wanting to learn to play other instruments. Her next choice was the flute and the piccolo. She had always dreamed of becoming an orchestral performer. She worked hard, always practicing and striving to be her best, and her freshman year in high school she made All State. Nothing would stop her.
She had always loved to sing, so in high school she auditioned for a vocal ensemble and performed with the group for 2 years; however, she never took her eye off of the prize and was still dead set on playing in an orchestra someday.
Fast forward to college, she decided to major in Psychology, but with a music minor , specializing in instrumental...not voice! Well.....that all changed. She was soon confronted by her soon to be vocal mentor ( and at that time choir director), Ronald Billingsley, when he heard her singing in the practice rooms on campus.
He had asked her if she had ever taken voice lessons, and of course, Jaime replied "No"..because she was dead set on becoming a professional flute player in an orchestra, not a singer. He then told her that she had a God given gift, and should not waste it, and if she was willing, he would help her develop her voice. Well...the rest is history. She soon changed her music minor from instrumental to voice, thus beginning her vocal journey.
Well, a few music theatre performances later ( Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, Broadway Backwards) , a few gospel ensembles, some local talent competitions where she always placed in the top three, one title as "Princess Popstar", singing as a backup vocalist for a few local artist projects, a plethora of performances of the National Anthem at the Lee Speedway, baseball games, fundraisers, etc..., a music experiment that resulted in an EP, as well as a variety of musical performances and experiences sprinkled here and there...Jaime Taylor is ready to show the world what she can do.
Her soon to be released debut album, " Old Soul, New Generation" is the result of her love of music and inspirations The 8 track album, includes 2 covers and 6 originals, and show cases her love of writing meaningful lyrics, with great melodies, and in the styles/genres of music she loves with all of her heart and soul.....Watch out world...here she comes!
