From Ten Sleep, Wyoming, Jalan (pronounced juh-LON) Crossland is widely acclaimed by audiences, critics, and his musical peers as one of the country’s premier acoustic guitarists. Along with dozens of regional contest awards, his extraordinary guitar work has earned him National Fingerstyle Championship honors in 1997 and the State Championship Flatpick Title in his home state of Wyoming in 1999. He is a talented vocalist, banjo player, songwriter, and an engaging showman. Jalan’s newest studio album, Portrait of a Fish, is an enjoyable and eclectic 12 song collection. The album is a solo project in the purest form – just Jalan and his guitar and banjos in a “no frills, no overdubs, no studio hocus pocus” recording environment. In February 2013, Jalan received the Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award. He is only the second musician in the past decade to receive the honor which recognizes artists, arts organizations and patrons who have displayed excellence in the arts and outstanding service to the arts in Wyoming.
“…so dexterous that when he stops at the end of a song, you realize you forgot to breathe”—The Weekly News, Rapid City, SD.
“More than just a great picker, Crossland’s performances feature graceful delivery and character”—Planet Jackson Hole, Jackson, WY.
