ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Warning! Do not listen to this c.d. while driving or operating heavy machinery. They say in Africa "If you can talk you can sing and if you can walk you can dance" and if you can listen to this music without moving you should have someone check your pulse.

Guinee Fare, West African Dance rhythms is a collection of irresistible dance grooves of various tempos played on traditional instruments including djembes, dunduns, bell and shekere. This c.d. has been popular with dancers, music and movement educators, fitness instructors and anyone who loves African drumming.
All but one of the tracks are repeated with the second version of the rhythm having more accents and embellishments making it great for African or original choreography. The unique rhythm, Wolossodon, used with the slave dance has been included for its historical significance.
An instructional dance video entitled "West African Dance with Abdoulaye Camara" was produced in conjunction with the c.d. Several dances are taught by Guinea native Abdoulaye Camara including Kuku, Yole and Triba which are also on the c.d. Those interested should go to the drum and dance weblink listed on this page.
