ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jesse Collins’ New York By Night (Real Bean Records 1112) is a compilation of live material of the Jesse Collins Quartet, recorded in NYC clubs Smalls and Fat Cat from 1995 to 2002.
It is a rerelease of the live tracks from Introducing Jesse Collins, which was voted a 2003 Jazz Times magazine “Critics Pic Top 10.” These recordings, which are of Jesse Collins’ great working band during his young NYC development period, feature Collins on alto saxophone; guitarists Peter Greisinger and Ilya Lushtak; acoustic bassists Nick Walker, Rene Hart, Brandon Owens, and John Roche; and brilliant drummer Chad Taylor.
The warm “bootleg” recordings reflect the art of musical interplay and musical conversation that remain the essential elements of Jesse Collins’ creative music-making
