ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jim Horn was fortunate to be involved in the thriving Los Angeles session scene. Over the next several years Jim found himself in the studio with such stellar names as The Mamas And Papas, Leon Russell and Joe Cocker.
His versatility and unique style on a number of his instruments earned him a sterling string of credits that include,Ringo Star, The Beach Boys, Lionel Ritchie, John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, John Denver, Barbra Streisand and Linda Ronstadt. Jim was part of the infamous Mad Dogs And Englishman band, which backed Joe Cocker.
In 1979,John Denver called and said he wanted to try something new in his music. He thought the flutes, rcorders and saxophone would be a nice addition to his songs. From then on Jim was the wind, water and birds in his music.
Jim traveled all over the globe with John. He walked on the Great Wall of China, saw the Pyramids of Egypt and tasted the foods around the world. He even flew with John in his by-plane. Jim believes Johns' music will be heard for a long time to come.

Jim Horn: A Tribute To John Denver
I am a HUGE John Denver fan, so when I found out(YEARS later, I'm sorry to say) that Jim Horn, who I became a fan of through John Denver's music, recorded this album, I didn't hesitate to buy it. I was both surprised and pleased with his interpretations of the songs. Some of the arrangements are COMPLETELY different than the original versions, but nontheless pleasant to listen to. I hope that this CD helps to keep John Denver's music heard for a long time. Keep up the good work, CDBaby and Jim Horn!

Evocative, Inspired, Joyous - Honors JD the best possible way...
Jim Horn offers beauty of spirit as well as sound.
This tribute is full of joy, evoking an appreciation for life, love, the earth, nature, experience. There is, here, the feel of John as well as Jim. However, you don't have to be a fan of JD to enjoy this - it's beautiful standing alone.
From the sweet simplicity of Whispering Jesse, the inspired, joyous Calypso, and the summery, sax-y My Sweet Lady & Sunshine...to the haunting Celtic Irish pipes on Poems, Prayers & Promises, the winged lilt of Eagle & The Hawk, the upbeat, island-y Annie's Song and the reggae Country Roads - every single track offers a pleasurable diversity. Buy & Enjoy!

the best tribute one can make
Hearing the first song brought some tears in my eyes. It took me back to the times of nice concerts. Jim played the songs in his own way but still so very John Denver like!
In my opinion; Get this CD and enjoy it!

Jim Horn has produced a wonderful tribute album covering the song of John Denver. An integral part John's band for years, Jim has added his own special touch to favorite John Denver songs that we know and love. I highly recommend this album if you are a true John Denver fan. Great job Jim!

Great CD. Buy several. You will need them.
Every song on this CD is wonderful. Jim's playing is so varied and inspired. My Sweet Lady is so soulful here that it sounds as if John wrote it for the saxophone. And I can't imagine the song Calypso without Jim's lilting additions. Don't buy just one copy. You will want to give this as a gift.

Jim Horn takes center stage with JD as his inspiration. Very nice.
This tribute CD takes off where JD left off. Nice to hear Jims slant on JD's material. Some selections seemed a natural new delivery of what we all knew as a given when John performed them. A refreshing reminder of what we lost in 1997 when JD went on to higher ground.

great addition to my john denver collection
John's music is beautifully captured by Jim Horn. Annie's song is upbeat, sharing the joy of being in love. Country Roads brings a smile with the reggae beat. Sunshine proves Jim is just one of the very best saxophone players around.
And, Calypso sounds as if John wrote it just to showcase Jim's talents.
