I can't help myself
note: these are the only songs that i submitted off the cd and they all won.
I started writing music about 5 years ago. Music has always been very important to me, it is for many people. It just got to the point where I needed to know how it worked. I wanted to know how if I had what it took to write songs. I started playing with a guitar with the full intent of someday writing a song. That day came it was a new, strange and incredible feeling of accomplishment. I was addicted. Songs came to me all day and night. Soon I had so many songs or parts of songs I needed a better way to record them. I soon filled up a hard drive of a 16 track recorder with ideas. This device would prove to be one of the best investments of my life.
The songs I had were a good start to what would be an album. With the help of some great and talented friends, I soon saw a finished product forming. The road was long and expensive, but I have learned so much and I can’t wait to start again. The second time around I know will be easier and sound that much better.
I am so proud of this cd and people tell me how much they are digging it. I have heard a different person select each one of the tracks as their favorite. So that to me means there is something on it for everyone. That was conscious intention of mine going into it. Not one song on this cd sounds like another one. I hate when artists keep redoing songs. I aspire to be completely original and that includes not ripping myself off. If you want a good cd and something that you never heard before, then get this one.
My inspiration….I heard the Beatles for the first time and thought “this sounds so cool and easy, I think I can do it”. I know it sounds cliché but it’s true.
I don’t play shows and I don’t have a band. I love the studio. My goal is to write songs for other artists to perform and sell. Down the road I can foresee me in a band and doing that whole thing. I just want to get this out to as many people as I can. I greatly appreciate anyone who will take their time out to listen to this.
