ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jim Matus and Doug Raneri have just completed their 1st album, While Sleeping, Watch.

Jim Matus (laoutar) is a composer, band leader and arranger specializing in progressive world fusion, jazz and improvisatory music. His bands Paranoise, Mawwal and Impulse Ensemble have won him critical praise internationally.
Doug Raneri (percussion) merges rhythms and sounds from a wide array of cultures and genres, creating a colorful and diverse musical palette.

An indescribable combination of Jazz, Eastern, and Jam music. Beautiful melodic lines, haunting trancey rhythms with some dissonant twists. Similar to McLaughlin's Shakti while not as fast, more groove oriented. At times hints of acoustic Zeppelin and North African Sufi music peak through.

Jim has performed live and worked in the studio with world class musicians Don Cherry and Steve Marcus, and Anthony Jackson, Percy Jones, Al Anderson, Gary Windo, Hugh Hopper, Alicia Svigals, Hassan Hakmoun and Dave Weckl.
