Jim Weatherly has written such hits as "Midnight Train to Georgia", "Neither One Of Us Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye", and "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me", all pop and r&b hits for Gladys Knight & The Pips, who recorded 12 of Weatherly's songs.
"Neither One of Us" was a country hit for Bob Luman, and "Best Thing" was a country hit for Ray Price. Other hits include "Love Finds Its Own Way", "Where Peaceful Waters Flow", "A Lady Like You", "Someone Else's Star", "Where Do I Put Her Memory", "Roses And Love Songs", "Like Old Times Again", "You Turn Me On Like A Radio", "All Tangled Up In Love", "I'll Still Love You", "This Is A Love Song", and many more.
His songs have been recorded by such diverse artists as Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, Indigo Girls, Johnny Mathis, Dean Martin, Vince Gill, Steve Wariner, Peter Cetera, Reverand James Cleveland, Ray Boltz, The Spinners, Jeff Carson, Brent Lamb, Linda Davis, Lynn Anderson, Peggy Lee, Bryan White, Andy Williams, Nana Mouskouri, Elaine Page, Bryan Lane, Bill Anderson, Tavaras, The Manhattens, David Sanborn, Acker Bilk, Ray Connif And Orchestra, Kenny Chesney, And Tracy Byrd, among others.
Weatherly was nominated for a Grammy for "Midnight Train to Georgia", and won a Dove award for "Where Shadows Never Fall" recorded by Glen Campbell. "The Need To Be" was a pop and ac hit for Weatherly as an artist.
The album, "Dancing Moon" was recorded and mixed in 1977.
It was never released on vinyl or tape due to the record company being phased out and sold. It has been digitally remastered and is available, now, for the first time on cd.
It includes two of Weatherly's biggest hits as a songwriter, "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" and "Love Finds It's Own Way", both recorded by Gladys Knight & The Pips. Also included is All That Keeps Me Going" which was released by Weatherly as a single and was a top 30 country hit.
Weatherly is now in the process of recording an album of his hits which is due for release sometime in 2002.
