ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Joan Coffey is taking on the world... and winning. Wowing audiences with her incredibly energetic and uplifting live sets, she's won over fans from Asia to America, and all over Europe. Consistently original, always entertaining and with a natural charm that many politicians would kill for, Joan's enormous voice belies her tiny frame.

The debut studio album, Everybody Needs One, was recorded in a barn in Kent, South England over a period of ten days with a dedicated small core of musicians, all of whom believe in putting heart and soul into every minute of every song. Co-produced by Phil Saatchi, who worked with Paul Brady on his album "Back to the Centre" (which was the first album Joan ever bought... there's serendipity working!), the album has had a huge response in London.

An old-school artist, Joan believes in getting on the road as much as possible, and trips to Nashville, New York and even as far afield as Kathmandhu have kept her in the good company of world-class musicians such as Nanci Griffith, Suzy Boguss, Edwina Hayes, Nick Kelly, Nick Harper and many more.
One of the richest, fullest voices to come out of Ireland in the last ten years, this is a timeless album.

Lush, strong and you gotta love those sheep
Everybody Needs One. It's right there in the title. This CD is so intimate - Joan's right there in your living room. Her voice is pure and at times is HUGE - I'm sure I need to replace a couple of shingles. The strings are lush, the production is simple and songs like Louise are so honest and touching it might just break your heart. There is also a wry humour present thoughout that makes me think she maybe knows something we don't! If you love acoustic music - you need one. If you love singer/songwriters - you need one. If you love strong female vocals - you need one. If you love honesty and integrity in your artists - you need one. In fact... Everybody needs one.

The clue's in the album title....so hurry up
Buy this album or be a very foolish person indeed-vocals to die for, lyrics to make you wanna curl up in front of a fire or maybe jump out of a window shouting mine's a large one!!...whiskey that is(now,now).....and when you've bought it, see Joan live....she's even better
