Album Notes
Iowa singer/songwriter Brian Joens has transformed himself with his fourth and latest Spinout Records release. The merging of Joens' small town main street melancholy has been shaded with languid grooves and moody, textured arrangements. Produced by Bernie Larsen (David Lindley, Melissa Etheridge and currently on tour with Lucinda Williams), HOLLYWOODLAND features multi-instrumentalist Larsen on guitar, bass, keys and programming, along with the melodically twisted guitar of Peter Atanasoff (Tito & Tarantula), and the earthy harmony of Carla Olsen (Textones, Mick Taylor, Gene Clark).

HOLLYWOODLAND is a fresh, eclectic mix of ambient folk.

I never get tired of this CD of Brians
This CD is always on top of my CD pile and on my I-pod! I have ordered two more for friends who heard it at my house. Its really one you want to play over and over.

P.J. Favorite, Portland, Oregon

Music for smart people
Sophisticated song-writing along the lines of Rodney Crowell, Bruce Robison and Robert Earl Keen, but without the twang of those Texans. Dusty, rear-view noir . . . a perfect groove for a Midwestern road trip, kicking up dirt in the backdrop of a harvest sunset.
