Album Notes
"Passion" shows Schütz' songwriting from his most playful and gentle side, effortlessly merging the influences from pop, latin (Brazil/Cuba) and jazz.

A bossanova experiment with chord colorings and sudden accidental flats in the melodies, "Passion" was an unexpected top-seller in Japan at its release, with shops selling several hundreds of copies each by just word of mouth, outselling most major label releases.

It was re-issued with a new cover in 2007 with 2 bonus tracks, which are both included here as well.

J.C. Schütz – voice and all guitars, percussion, drums, electric bass [4]
Micke Sehlstedt – drums & percussion
Glenn Fransson – acoustic bass
Ingemar Hjertén – accordion [2,6,8,9,12]
Niklas Hakegård – piano [2,8,10,13]
Olle Bohm – vibraphone [6,9] and guiro
Sofia Westlin – flute [1,7]
Thomas Fristedt – bongos and congas [1,13]

Anna Hansen – violin [3,7,10]

Pelle Hansen – cello [3,7,10]
Linn Hjertén – violin [1,10]
Ingemar Hjertén – violin [1,10]

Guiseppe F

Beutiful simplicity
I stumbled across Schutz on iTunes, actually by accident! When "Think Of Me" ends, the song with the electric (eclectic) guitar, you just keep hoping for more electricity but it never coms! That's the way to keep a listener on the edge. Wonderfully written songs too! I read a review saying that Schutz' lyrics are naive, and they look very simple at first and he's clerely inspired by Cole Porter. But every hear and there he makes really deep statements about life, and it's the beutiful simplicity that makes this album a true winner: "I'm so happy to be finished with the shame, no I'll never be the same, but what is sadness to grieve about?" (So Happy)

Sweet!!!! His voice could heal any wound, his guitar could stir up any boring heart! I love it!! Caramba!!!

Excellent album, excellent artist
Christher Schütz delivers a personal and nice feeling through his songs on Passion and has a great sence about how to write good lyrics and combine these with the beutiful musicstyles which once came from Brazil but today are being international - the bossa nova and samba! I just can´t wait to hear his next album...

I love this album!
I agree completely with Guiseppe! At first I was fooled by the "simplicity" of this music, until it hit me (like a huge rock out of the sky) that the lyrics are quite deep if you take an extra look. I love this album! Schutz really deserves some extra attention.

One of the most dynamic voices in bossa nova

'Passion' is refreshing and completely inspiring with no façade and that utter lack of pretentiousness is unfortunately what lacks in most Latin-inspired music. He's groovy and romantic with a compassionate array of songs that you must hear. Go and buy this album now!

Swedish samba ???
Surprised to find samba and bossa nova from Sweden, and this great! The songs this guy writes has what it takes to last forever. The song "This is forever" is a brilliant wedding song, and if I wasn't already married I'd have this piece played... I do! I do! I do!
