ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Places We've Pillaged" is Black Whydah's second album together. We've taken some of our favorite Cape Cod places and names to write evocative music around them. We take you on a musical journey from Wood's Hole to P'Town. Imagine seaside pubs with Irish sessions or towns that no longer exist; names of towns that have been changed over time to what we now know. All of these wonderful songs weave Irish, folk and new Age music into an ever-changing tapestry of sound. No two songs are alike and all are memorable. If you are a person who likes strictly "traditional" music, you won't find it here, although the" traditional" influences can always be heard.
If you like Irish fiddles & harp, hammered and lap dulcimers, stringed instruments of all types, synthesizers and winds, you will love how they are all orchestrated into this album. My partner, Jean and I are extremely proud of this, our second album together. Enjoy the second voyage of the Black Whydah! Ar-r-r-r-r!

Places We've Pillaged "Rocks"
I've known John Best for over 33 yrs. He is an incredible, versatile musician and his partnership with Jean Sagara has produced some of the very best Irish Celtic music I've heard. I have all of John's CD's and #1 from Black Whydah. Looking forward to the next voyage on BLACK WHYDAH! AR-R-G-H!

The Journey of A Lifetime
Black Whydah's second album, "Places We've pillaged" takes the listener on a splendidly varied journey. Do yourself a favor and get the entire cd, not just an mp3 tune or two... this album needs to be heard in it's entirety and in the sequential order they are in to be fully appreciated. Each tune stands on it's own, but together they are phenomenal. I like to listen to it when I'm on a long ride. This origional music is amazing...do yourself a favor and take a journey with the ship Black Whydah.
