Can't get this out of my CD player...
Open House is reason for fans of swing violin to know John Intrator. His interplay with Sebastien Felix is a joyous romp. Guest Howard Alden tastefully blazes on Tenderly. There is an organic, acoustic sound and feel throughout. Intrator's warm, round tone on violin makes me wish the legendary jazz violinist Claude "Fiddler" Williams were around to hear it!

Geneva swings!
You may not think of Geneva as a musical capitol. But classic swing is alive and thriving in the sometimes staid Swiss town. Witness “Open House”, the new release by Geneva stalwarts John Intrator and Sébastien Felix. These two masters of their craft (Intrator on violin and Felix on guitar) host friends and colleagues from Geneva and environs for up-tempo renditions of 15 tasty “morceaux” from both sides of the Atlantic.
If you have any doubts that Geneva swings, check out just the first cut, as Felix, Intrator, and Jacques Ducrot (on clarinet) rip through their solos and trade licks on “Exactly Like You”.
And the “cerise sur le gateau” (the cherry on the cake), as the French say, are two cuts featuring Howard Alden, the American master of the 7-string guitar.

Swings like mad
A joyous celebration of the golden age of gypsy jazz and Kansas City swing.

Exceptional Lyrical and Swinging Gypsy Jazz CD
"Long ago, I was fortunate enough to take a couple of violin lessons from Kansas City jazz master, Claude "Fiddler" Williams. When I heard Open House I was pleased and surprised to hear that same warm, swinging violin style had been passed along so well!" This comes highly recommend!

Tight, Danceable Music
As a musician not focused on jazz, I was amazed at the professional
musicianship and the tight, danceable music of this group! The violin sounds
as if it could be a saxophone or horn, not like any other violinist I have
heard. This disc is a very nice surprise, recommended for fans of all
styles.
