ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD features the only piano music by the famous violinist and composer Louis Spohr (1784-1859) together with his pupil Norbert Burgmuller's exciting Piano Sonata Op.8. Spohr's Sonata is dedicated to his friend Mendelssohn and included is Mendelssohn's wonderful Andante and Rondo Capriccioso written when he was fifteen years old.
Spohr's magical Sonata sounds ethereal on John Khouri's 1832 Broadwood grand piano while his ca. 1828 piano by Joseph Bohm perfectly suits Burgmuller's colorful and exciting Sonata.
