ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Solo and Duo Reflections" is the second release by John Krantz and continues to show his passion for the standard song repetoire adapted by jazz players over the years. This is evident in that eight of the ten titles were composed between 1935 and 1944 and the fact that four were penned by the prolific Jimmy Van Heusen. The more recent songs selections are the 1952 "That's All" that was a hit by singer Bobby Darin and the 1955 Dave Brubeck jazz standard, "In Your Own Sweet Way" that opens up the recording.

Krantz breaks up this studio date by playing four piano solos and six duos with talented bassist, David Altemeier. Take a listen to this recording and you will hear many influences in his playing. These selections represent one side of his timeless style of jazz piano.

John Krantz lives and performs regularly in Des Moines, Iowa and has held the Friday night piano chair at the popular Sam and Gabe's Italian Bistro for four years running now.
