Album Notes
"Away in a Manger" is considered one of the most popular Christmas Carols in the English-speaking world. It is actually set to two different melodies. This original instrumental arrangement starts out with the melody most common in America written by James R. Murray (published in 1887) but moves to the melody also known as "Cradle Song," written by William J. Kirkpatrick in 1895. Both men were American. William Kirkpatrick's version is more popular in England.
