Album Notes
Baritone John O'Loughlin was trained at the Municipal School of Music and the Royal College of Music in Dublin. He has wide experience in musical comedy and has played lead roles in many of Gilbert and Sullivan's operettas; most recently as The Mikado in the show of that name. He also has performed and directed works by Friel, Beckett, O'Casey, Wilder, Leonard, Shakespeare and many others. All of which ideally prepares him for the sympathetic and colourful interpretation of Percy French's humorous ballads of Irish life. The songs in this selection are known and widely valued in Ireland and, indeed, wherever Irish music is enjoyed.
