Album Notes
The genesis of Winter Trilogy was music I was writing for an imaginary spaghetti western, one that was all in my mind. It evolved into what you hear now, a musical movie in three parts, when I began working on an album of songs featuring the sound of my beautiful Gretsch guitar. As I’ve written each instrumental piece, I’ve released it as a single, but when it feels like I have the “perfect set of tunes,” the ideal collection of pictures at an exhibition, hard copies will be made. The project started with Dark Descent, a piece I created for the CBS TV show, The Mentalist. A small piece of that tune was used in the season 4 finale. I was thrilled to have my music included in the show, but it turned out to have such a compelling sound that I wanted people to hear the entire piece. The response was great, and I was really digging the vibe. In fact, it felt like I was actually finding my voice. From this inspiration came first Time is a Luxury then Clear Blue. Each tune seems to unlock the next, opening up a fresh idea, a more compelling listen. Winter Trilogy may be the best yet. At least for now...

"Winter Trilogy-cool!-(none or all puns intended..) it has a melancholic power that climbs into that r&b/rock guitar (nice guitar work)-romp and then descends back into that winter trance i can relate to and i've felt in places like vermont and toronto and alaska... I hope others hear the potential in this for the right production" Robert Miltenberg
