Album Notes
John Toomey, jazz pianist, was formerly music director and keyboardist with jazz legend Maynard Ferguson, with whom he recorded two cds. John was also pianist for Max Jazz recording artist Rene Marie, and is featured on her Live At The Jazz Sandard recording. Currently a full professor at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, he received his Masters in Jazz Performance from the Eastman School of Music. John has toured with vocalist Mark Murphy, the Uptown Jazz Quartet, Maynard Ferguson, and Rene Marie. His soundtrack credits include scores for the Learning Channel, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, and NBC.

During listening I can feel pubescence in every sense...
Carefully chosen voicing, interactive playing, and very good collaboration between musicians are main characteristics of the album.
Refraction is the work of art, which I would highly recommend to listeners.
