ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is the debut album from 2008 Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition winner Jon Irabagon. Purposefully taking the entire lineage of the jazz tradition and wrapping it all together in intense group improvisation, Jon and his cohorts create music that appeals people with forward-leaning musical tastes. Called by All About Jazz Italia "one of the most stunning debuts of recent memory," Outright! features a stellar quintet (who have performed with Lee Konitz, Tony Malaby, and Chris Speed among others), a shredding guitar solo, drum programming, choir, and a 35-piece New Orleans freak out ensemble.
