Album Notes
Joshua Edelman was born and grew up in Manhattan. He studied at
the High School of Music and Art, Manhattan School of Music and New
York University. Edelman relocated to Spain in 1980, invited to teach at the Unión Musical de Liria (Valencia). He worked
intensively as a teacher and performer, travelling extensively
throughout Spain and also touring in Holland,
Portugal and Latin America
As a pianist and composer he combines his
classical and jazz training with the passion he
feels for the latin music he fell in love with in his
youth in New York. Edelman has travelled to
various Latin American countries to study the
roots of their music. In 2002 Joshua
released his fourth CD called “Fusión de Almas”
(Fusion of souls). "Fusión de Almas" is an enchanting piece written by
the renowned Cuban pianist and composer, Ignacio Cervantes (1847-
1905), a "Romance Without Words" which he dedicated to his
daughter, María Cervantes (1885-1981), also a pianist and composer.
The CD is an explosive blend of Latin Jazz, Classical and Salsa.
In 2004 “Joshua Edelman & Conexiones” was awarded “Premio al Mejor Grupo de Jazz Español” at the XXV Festival Internacional de Granada.
In 2006 Edelman released a new CD “Calle del Rosario” featuring Steve Turre, Edith Salazar and his band “Joshua Edelman & Conexiones”.
This year The Fundación Autor is publishing Joshua’s in depth study of the piano in Latin music entitled “Los Reyes de las Blancas y las Negras”
An excellent communicator and pedagogue, Edelman gives private
lesson and does jazz workshops apart from performing with his trio and
latin jazz band. His permanent residence is in the center of Madrid.

Fantastic CD

Ciao ciao Pietro
