Album Notes
Joy was born and raised in rural Mississippi where she learned to value the simple beauty of things like a sunset or a gentle fall breeze on a sunny afternoon. Though only twenty years of age, she has grown up loving and serving those around her in a deep and meaningful way. People from all walks of life and a multitude of nations, races, creeds, and cultures have come through the family home and have been touched by her gentleness, warmth, hospitality, and love. Her music is a reflection of who she is as a person; beautiful, deep, simple, and elegant. It celebrates the greatness of her Savior, and His power that made the heavens and the earth, raised Jesus from the dead, and that continues to conform her more and more into His image.

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7

A heart warming story of one young girl who learns the meaning of faith through a childhood game her daddy named "Trust." From this simple game she learned to hear her father's voice and trust him as she blindly fell backward  into his arms. As she grows older she realizes to "walk by faith and not by sight," she must in the same simple way, take her Heavenly Father at His word and trust that He would catch her when she falls.

"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the next day. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and vanishes away."  James 4:14

Passing these countless gravestones in a nearby cemetery on her drive home day after day, the sobering reminder that life is short causes her to question many things as she realizes life is as a vapor and she must make the most of her time.

Broken vessel bio

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." 2 Cor. 4:7

In the life of a believer who has received the light of the gospel, their body is a vessel in which the light of Christ resides. Only through cracks made in this vessel can His light shine through and be seen by others. Taken from 2 Corinthians 4, this song is a prayer to God, asking Him to use the brokenness of the vessel brought about through painful trials to allow His glory to be revealed and His light to shine forth for others to see.
