"This British Columbian Celtic fiddler is an artist that deserves to be heard. Her debut CD of Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton tunes impresses both for the lovely tone she induces from her instrument and its unhurried pacing. Pettit has an intuitive command and understanding of the material that would honor a musician of any age; for one who is just 15, it's astonishing."
~ Sing Out! Magazine (Summer 2010)

“An incredible fiddle player, who blew away the audience with her expertise.”
~ The Celtic Connection

"A new fiddler has risen to the ranks of the powerhouse fiddlers living in British Columbia and the Northwest."
~ Victory Music Review

"A top-notch musician, and major emerging talent."
~ Europe FolkWorld Magazine

JOCELYN PETTIT is a vibrant fiddler, stepdancer, singer, and composer from the West Coast of British Columbia. Determination, a keen appreciation for tradition, an excitement to explore new ideas, and natural talent, have earned Jocelyn impressive musicianship well beyond her years - and a reputation as a lively "Celtic sensation".

First inspired by the uplifting energy and driving rhythm of Cape Breton music, Jocelyn vowed to pick up the fiddle when she reached the age of eight. Further drawn to explore the musical culture of her roots (UK, France, and Malaysia), and fascinated by World music, Jocelyn has embraced her love for Celtic and Canadian traditions and created a spirited style of her own. She now enjoys composing tunes and forming creative arrangements of music inspirited by living in the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia.

Performing with grace and passion, Jocelyn has ignited stages and delighted audiences across Canada, the USA, Scotland, and Malaysia. From Celtic to Québécois and beyond, she leads The Jocelyn Pettit Band, with accompaniment provided by Siew Wan Khoo (piano, fiddle), Joel Pettit (Irish bodhran, cajon, vocals), and Bob Collins (guitar, vocals). Performance highlights include: Vancouver CelticFest, Whistler World Ski & Snowboard Festival, Harmony Arts Festival, BC Highland Games & Scottish Festival, Owen Sound Summerfolk Festival, and Seattle Northwest Folklife.

Jocelyn has also performed with Irish supergroup The Chieftains, fingerstyle guitarist Don Alder, The North Shore Celtic Ensemble (Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Ottawa/Hull Canada Day Celebration, Festival d'Été de Québec, Mission Folk Festival), and The BC All-Star Fiddlers (Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Medal Ceremony, BC Place Stadium).

Numerous radio and TV broadcasts have featured Jocelyn in Canada, the USA, and the UK: City TV (Breakfast Television), Radio Canada Télévision, CBC (Early Edition, NXNW, The Signal), CiTR FM (The Edge on Folk), CJSF (Melodies in Mind, Sound Therapy Radio), CKWI (Songs From the Wood), CFOS (The Hundred Mile Music Show), Mountain FM, Radio Lillooet, WKSU (Folk Alley), and Celtic Roots Radio.

Receiving multiple award nominations, this debut CD features high-energy NEW-TRAD Celtic music, with original compositions, and unique arrangements of contemporary and traditional melodies, steeped in the folk traditions of BC, Cape Breton, Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia, USA, and France. This feel-good music is led by the blazing-to-soulful fiddle, accompanied by piano, guitar, bodhran, fiddle harmonies, and lyrical vocals, with special guest musicians (cello, whistle, guitar, cittern, viola, fiddles). Mixed together, this ignites into an alluring sound of foot stompin' dance tunes, rhythms & chops, rich tones, and sweet melodies.

"One suspects we'll be hearing of Pettit for years to come ---
the next generation of Celtic music is in good hands."
~ Strings Magazine
