This debut album showcases JP Jofre's gifts not only as a performer, but also as a composer and arranger of singular voice and mesmerizing depth. Mr. Jofre's deep reservoir of talent allows him to brilliantly tackle Lennon and McCartney's "I am the Walrus", the classic "Manha de Carnaval" or La Cumparsita -one of tango's best-known standards- and translate them into his own readily identifiable style.
JP Jofre's virtuosistic command of the bandoneon is enhanced by a solid cast of musicians, including special guests Paquito D'Rivera and Fernando Otero. The result is music that will at once instantly enchant and last forever, jolting us with the energy and intellectual breath of its more vivacious tracks and seducing us with the melancholic depth of the slower pieces.
After winning the National Prize of the Arts Grant in Argentina, JP Jofre has made New York City his hometown. Based in Manhattan, Mr. Jofre has built a world-spanning career, playing alongside classic tango ensembles as well as symphonic orchestras. JP Jofre regularly performs before audiences all over the United States, as well as Europe, Asia, South America and the Caribbean.
