Album Notes
Have you ever found a 20 dollar bill while doing laundry? It's a nice, unexpected surprise and it makes your whole day. That's exactly what this album represents. In this case, a 20 year old recording found while organizing the tape library - a recording that had never been released!

So, what were the chances that the tapes would still be "playable" let alone "usable"? As it turns out, very good on both counts. Two shows had been recorded at a club in Spokane, Washington called "West Four Main". One on Tuesday, November 24, 1992 and one on Tuesday, December 15, 1992.

From those tapes there was over 2 hours of material available. We have chosen what we believe to be 9 great songs with over 50 minutes of music.

Technical Notes from Karl Bingle:

It was during the Winter of 1992 that I was getting more into digital recording. Since the ADAT was so easily moved around I thought it would be fun to do some live recording. At the time, Spokane had a very good blues scene and West Four Main was part of the "Blues Triangle" downtown. I never intended to release the recording, just have some fun getting used to the new equipment and see what it could do.

ADAT users will remember that one unit only had 8 tracks. So, you can imagine the challenge of recording a band with 2 vocals, 2 guitars, bass guitar, drums, blues harp and a 3 piece horn section (not including the audience) - to just 8 tracks! To my surprise, the recording is quite "listenable" and so 20 years later I asked band leaders Eric Rice and Chip Busch if they'd like to go ahead and release it. I was happy that they said yes.

So, with all of that being said, there really wasn't much to mix. Just a handful of tracks where things just are what they are. But, to me at least, that is the beauty of this recording. No re-recording, patching, fixing, etc. It just is what it is - and I think it's a great blues ablum. After dumping the orginal ADAT tracks digitally to computer, I then mixed down to a 30 ips half track reel to reel mastering deck for that nice "warm" sound. I hope that despite all of the technical limitations that you will enjoy this as much as I do.

The Band:

Eric Rice: Lead vocals, lead Guitar
Chip Busch: Lead vocals, guitar, blues harp
Ramiro Vijaro: Bass guitar
Vernon Petry: Drums
Michael Lenke: Trumpet
Eric Bjorklund: Trombone
Joe Hanson: Sax

Recorded live at West Four Main in Spokane, Washington on November 24th, 1992 and December 15th, 1992.

Mixed & Mastered at Mission Control Studios by Karl BIngle, December 14th & 15th, 2012.
