Finalist! The Great American Song Contest, for "Lonely with Joni"! Here's what they said, "The Pop category was the most competitive category in last year's (2007) event, so your good showing is even more impressive. Congratulations on your excellent song!"
"Women of a Certain Age - The Songs of Kantor and Dorn is, in my opinion, a show that fills a gap in the world of Contemporary Musical Theatre. Over the last many months I have had the opportunity to become acquainted with the score and its organic multiplicity of styles. Kantor and Dorn have an individual voice, but also have an important understanding of theatricality and entertainment. Perhaps more importantly, this show explores a very large "niche" and focuses on talents that might not otherwise have the chance to be heard. For me, this is what Musical Theatre is about."
- MICHAEL FEINSTEIN
“I was immediately impressed not only by how original and unique the writing was, but by how the arrangements and the sound of the songs were deeply infused with the vast and varied knowledge of genre and sound that Margaret's arranging and performing experience brought to the score. In a song like “Lonely With Joni”, Margaret and Karen were able to write a song that is totally original and yet captures the nostalgic feeling of an era in its lyric and sound. But Women of a Certain Age is more than just sound and style. It addresses a subject that is poignant and moving to a whole generation in a compassionate and fresh way that could only be created by two writers who have the first hand experience to understand the subject combined with the musical, lyrical and emotional skill and maturity to deliver it in a way that both gets into your ear and gets into your soul. “

Women of a Certain Age® — The Songs of Kantor and Dorn is a journey of life experiences set to music with engaging, original, contemporary songs that run the gamut of styles: from Rock to Country, from Theatrical to Blues, from Pop to Doo-wop.
Four women explore, through music, their lives, loves and losses, as reflected through the prism of decades of experience. Four different voices celebrate - and at times mourn - the years of struggle that have brought each women to this moment in time: becoming the proverbial “woman of a certain age”.
Songs and lives overlap as common themes emerge:
Chrissy's (Chrissy Faith) songs seek perspective in reviewing the relationships she has reveled in and, at times, suffered through;
Leata's (Leata Galloway) examine personal responsibility, reevaluation of choices made and the powerful draw of “home”;
Margaret's (Margaret Dorn) songs look back at the passion of youth and the pain of loss, informed by the indomitable strength necessary to continue to fight for what is possible;
Millie's (Millie Whiteside) reflect the optimism of the '60s generation, finding the silver lining in every cloud of impossibility, with wit and wisdom and acceptance.
Each women is a soloist, bringing her unique style to her songs. Each also backs up the others, literally supporting her sisters as enlightened women always have done- combining to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts: the unmistakable power of women's voices united.
Listen to their voices in this unprecedented musical journey celebrating the unique state of being...
