ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When you listen to one of "Mrs. Kate" Carpenter's CD's, you'll feel like you've made a musical friend! "Florida Family Folksongs", her newest release, will transport you to the Sunshine State in a flash, where you'll experience the swamp, birds, thunderstorms, sunshine and smiles along with her and her delightful young singers. You'll even take a rockin' country drive down Highway 301 and buy a bag of Hot Boiled Peanuts!

Mrs. Kate performs over 150 shows a year, reaching kids, families and seniors with her joyful tunes. Her songs are so catchy, you'll find yourself humming them often throughout your day. Says one of her fans, "Guaranteed to start your toes tapping and place a smile on your face!" The album later slides into a mellower mood, with her stress-release song, "Takin' Enough Time" and the riveting song/story combination of "She Still Sings", a 9-11 inspiration. Not to be missed!

My kids love it!
LOVE the CD! We drove to Orlando last week and the kids asked us not to put on the DVD player, but to put Florida Family Folksongs on "repeat". By the time we got there, we were all singing the tunes (even the grown ups)! Cannot believe how catchy some of the songs are! My 3 year old is just obsessed with the songs "Hot Boiled Peanuts" & "Anhinga"! To hear her walk around singing southern style-folk music is the best (considering that we are from NY & NJ)!

florida family folksongs CD
This is a wonderful CD and is enjoyed by both adults and children. " Coon in the Can " and "Florida Sunshine" and two favorite songs. Mrs. Kate is a very talented artist.

Highly recommended listening!
Mrs. Kate's newest CD captures all of her live appeal, plus gives listeners and endearing glimpse into the very soul of a gifted entertainer. The haunting Florida Rain is one of the most beautiful pieces in the collection, and will resonate with anyone who has toes sunk down in the Florida sand. For this listener, the best cut is the final one, She Still Sings. It begins with a day in the life of a mockingbird, who, despite her struggles for survival, still sings her song because that is what she was born to do. Florida Family Folksongs is Carpenter's 7th CD release. All of the material is original, supported in fine fashion by an impressive assembly of musicians on strings, percussion and harmonica.

James Hawkins, singer/songwriter

Guaranteed to start your toes tapping and place a smile on your face
The songs are fun, informative, poignant and guaranteed to start your toes tapping and place a smile upon your face! I put this in my player and my son was singing along within minutes. This music bubbles over with the enthusiasm that can be found at Kate's live shows. I would recommend this CD to anyone with or without children because these songs and stories speak to us all.

This artist and music will pass the test of time.
Here's to the future, here's to the land! With fingerpicking guitar, wailing harmonica, dancing fiddle, piano, and a whole cacophony of sounds, Mrs. Kate sings with the children in a wide variety of musical styles. You'll find yourself tapping, snapping, clapping, bouncing, twirling or swaying to the rhythms of the songs. The story of the mockingbird and the 9/11 attack on our country is a remarkably honest and calm explanation of a difficult time. Mrs. Kate's soothing voice in this tale will give comfort to young and old alike. The song, She Still Sings, is a masterpiece of melody and lyrics that will live forever in our hearts. Kate's themes are universal and her melodies are beautiful. This is an artist whose music will pass the test of time.

I laughed my sides away! Fantastic!
I couldn't get to sleep, I was enjoying your CD so much! Every song was so catchy, and the sound effects were just hilarious! I really got into Anhinga and Coon in the Can, and of course Florida Rain is simply a beautiful song. I laughed my sides away on Jingle Bells, and thought your kid singers were fantastic! All the little harmonica licks kept the whole album sounding true to the "folk genre", especially Hot Boiled Peanuts! I think Honeysuckle has a really unique sound, message and image going through it, and boy your voice really shines on this one. I could put this one next to the Peter Paul and Mary LPs my mom has. It's a CD I'm proud to own and to share and to consider a true "Mrs. Kate" classic.

Outstanding!
I just had to let you know that the ride home went by even faster with your CD along. It was great having the time to listen to it all the way through. I enjoyed it a lot and I have to add that the back up music is outstanding! You really have something to be proud of. It is a great product.

Joyous, enchanting songs!
Florida Family Folksongs is so much fun! A delight to listen to and one of “Mrs. Kate’s” best works yet! Kate has a brilliant mind for capturing the essence of nature into her joyous, enchanting songs. I can not look at an anhinga anymore without singing her catchy tune. It puts a big smile on my face every time . I would highly recommend this CD. I love it!!!! Gail Keel, Musical Therapist, Ft. Myers, FL

Refreshing!
I put Florida Family Folksongs on the other day and listened to it three times without stopping. I realize I don't like it, I LOVE IT! Like the Florida rain, I had to stand still and allow it to really "soak in" and refresh my soul. Thanks, Kate for sharing your great gift!

Transported me to the real Florida!
My students got a good laugh out of the Livin’ in Okefenokee song and enjoyed the rest of the CD as well. I was very impressed!! GREAT work! This CD really has a great sound to it, and it's super fun in its theme. I'd say it's got to be the most coherent work you've put together yet! When you're done listening to the CD, you feel like you've been on a trip to FL. Your studio musicians did an incredible job, too!

Talk about being "transported! Your CD does just that: "Take one listen, and you'll be plunk in the middle of the heart of the "real" Florida" -- not the southern metropoli of Dade or Broward, or even the tourist traps of Disney and Sea World, but the "Real" Florida that's found in Ding Darling, The Everglades, the swamps, and in the southern cultural roots of the people. My students heard "Hot Boiled Peanuts" and immediately knew they were somewhere in the south. My favorite song is "Florida Sunshine" and "Takin' Enough Time" came out really lush and gorgeous. I really enjoyed & appreciated your CD.
