ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A Native of NYC, jazz vocalist Kathryn Farmer is the quintessential singer with a huge vocal range. Now finally Kathryn has released this much awaited debut CD. Miss Sheila Anderson (author and on-air host - WBGO) quotes "Kathryn is a musician's musician, equally comfortable in jazz and R&B and has enjoyed a stellar reputation in the jazz scene. A graduate of New England Conservatory of music in Boston, she studied with Jaki Byard who introduced her to Hilton Ruiz who connected her to Mary Lou WIlliams who gave her piano lessons. Miss Farmer also plays Hammond B3 organ and can be heard singing and playing on the Grammy Award winning group Klezmatics release "Brother Moses (Live In Berlin) in 2006. In late 1980's she took Dinah Washington's place singing with Brook Benton his famous duet hits with Dinah. Heavily influenced by Dakota Staton (her mentor), Nancy Wilson, Little Jimmy Scott and Phyllis Hyman, she has been touring the world honing her craft. This CD "Moondance" is a successful mixture of Jazz, blues and pop. They are chosen pieces of soundtracks from her life that reflect her various experiences of joy, love and heartbreak, which have allowed her to impart the emotions of each tune that only come from someone who has lived the music. "Moondance" is a hip, swinging soulful release. Enjoy .......

Moondance

spot on jazz & jazz vocals!
having had the pleasure of hearing Kathryn live in her performances in Hanoi, Vietnam, this almbum brings back great memeories. She is a diva of grammy standing, and a bubbly, entertaining, seriously professional vocalist and performer. Great voice, great music, great songs and moondance is destined for international acclaim.
