Album Notes
Sweet Harriet, Crackerjack Tattoo – these are some of the places you have heard Katie Brady before. Her warm, carmel-flavored voice has just enough edge and power to let you know she means every word she sings. Her lyrics are full of real-life hope, fun and inspiration. And her melodies will make you want to turn up your car stereo and sing with the breath of your soul.

As a singer/songwriter on the San Francisco scene, Katie rocked audiences as the lead singer of Crackerjack Tattoo. Along with their award-winning original songs (like “And Love”), this talented group of friends performed songs by some of the greats of the nineties such as The 10,000 Maniacs, Blues Travelers, U2, The Cranberries and even some Willy Nelson. Performing such a variety of great hook-filled music really helped Katie hone her own unique, poetic style while keeping her songs easily accessible to all listeners.

As the other half of the duo Sweet Harriet, Katie really began to understand how a song can be great with just acoustic guitar, harmony and a knock-you-off-your-seat melody. This duo was best known for their hits “Veronica”, “Fallen Idol Park” and “Pieces”. They also won an award for their heart-breaking a cappella “Dusty Stone Floor”.

Katie began to venture into the world of Christian rock after being floored by a song by Jennifer Knapp (“Say Won’t You Say”). With her earlier influences like Sheryl Crow, The Indigo Girls, The Gin Blossoms and Natalie Merchant in her peripheral vision, Katie began to explore making God the center of all her lyrics.

“I desire to be a conduit for God. I hold high my bent, wire hanger and hope to receive His words and melodies. I am humbled and awed that God might use me as one of His instruments.”
