"The best record I've played on"- Kenny Vaughan

"Kayton Roberts is an American original, a master of his calling. He represents a language of the steel guitar that is precious. Kayton is a stylist whose name will be forever mentioned alongside of the musicians that touched his heart and influenced him in his formative years. We now look upon him with the same awe. Both Kayton and his red guitar are true essentials in country music. Country music would never have been the same without them and it’s not likely that we will ever know their kind again.
Kayton is my friend. He has enriched my life from the moment we met and shook hands. He made me feel welcome inside the family circle of country music and regarded me as family.
I dearly love his legacy playing from decades past. However, the reckless abandon and the sky is the limit spirit in which he now plays is a level of musical freedom that we all long to attain. When his beam is right, what his heart sends through his guitar is no less than a natural wonder. And may I say, it takes a mighty man to take on the 21st century with no pedals and a little Fender Deluxe amp. I suppose when you’ve got it, that’s about all you need. Thank you Kayton.
The Fabulous Superlatives, Connie and I send you our best wishes and our deepest love. We congratulate you on your induction in the Steel Guitar Players Hall of Fame." -Marty Stuart
