ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
KeepSweet aims to bring all the long-forgotten tales of blueswomen's triumphs to light. What The Detroit Cobras does for garage rock rarities, KeepSweet does for women's blues from the 20's and 30's--provided they're songs about drinkin', fuckin', killin', and whorin.' With whiskey-soaked, barrelhouse vocals and a bruised bottleneck slide, KeepSweet revives these songs long since buried with the women who lived them.

thought I knew something about the blues....
I really did, but I definitely needed some education, so KeepSweet brought it. This album is amazing. It completely brought me back to another time and era, where killin'and whorin' was just a way of life. Put the cd on, pour some whiskey, close your eyes and you're on your porch somewhere on the delta...

Sweet Comfort for Hard Livin' Souls
KeepSweet presents a classic-sounding blues sampler with an emphasis on down-and-dirty, Delta-style tales of murder and mayhem. The rip roarin' "Bloodhound Blues" and the drunken meditation,"Me and my Gin," stand out as personal favorites. The strength of the recording is Erin Gannon's voice. Strong and soulful, her vocals are in turn raging confessions and heartfelt howls, with a few wry little bits of humor tucked away for good measure. I love this CD!

Good down home tasty cooking in a diry pot!
An emotionally fueled ride back in time where you can just smell the Bloodhounds nippin' at your heals and the hot sticky sweat stinging your eyes. You can almost visualize the many distinct images in this album, such as, the dark but funny "Lectirc Chair" . I can go on, but I want to make this a short review. Intertwined in this straight-forward lovely magnet of mayhem lies beautifully stripped down well-plotted instumentations. The sweet comfort of the "harp", in contrast to the spellbound vocals, bleed through...right into your face. Oh yeah, what also moves me is that fun sliding rhythmic guitar. Well...that just makes me want to start pumpin' ... you know... water from the well. Like I said, it takes you back in time. Now where's that ol' rockin' chair?
