Ken Lonnquist's 1991 collection of ballads and love songs about nature, human nature, the heart and current events.
This digital-download version of the album forgoes three tracks on the original ("Good Indian", "Warm Slippers", "Every Morning") but adds one of Ken's best songs, recorded for (but not included in) the original playlist, "Children Of The River". The sessions for Slow Ride began during a late-winter visit to Canton, NY where Steve Gotcher was working at North Country Public Radio. Ken recorded much of Slow Ride direct to two-track DAT tape, brought it back to Madison's famous Smart Studios, and added vocal harmonies from friends Pete Burns and Maggie Delaney-Potthoff, instrumental embellishment from bassist Jeff Eckels, guitarist-pianist-violinist-banjoist Doug Brown and keyboardist Kenny Aigen.
"The power of Lonnquist's material snea-ks up on you from behind, camouflaged by delicate melodies and delicious guitar work... gorgeous bursts of romanticism." --- Wisconsin State Journal
