Sci Fi Hi Fi was released just prior to the new Millenium. Ready with his usual boat-load of original songs (many from a series of school song writing residencies conducted in the immediate years preceding the start of recording --- and equipped with a brand-new home digital studio setup, Ken launched into the project with abandon. The resulting 48 song double-CD release was... WAY too much! Ever since, he's planned on a slimmed-down version of the project that would be digestible at a single listening session, and here it is: Sci Fi Hi Fi: Incomplete Transmissions!
23 of the songs (60 minutes) have survived... and many of these have been digitally edited in length. All are digitally remastered, and some have been enhanced with special effects here and there. All this work was done at Concept Productions in Madison, with engineer Dan Geocaris.
The original tracks featured Ken in his basement "mad musical scientist lab", mostly... but with the able contributions and flourishes here and there of musicians Doug Brown, Mike Accardo, Wendy Jones, and on 'Open A Book' and 'Before The ABCs', bassist Jeff Eckels. The latter track also featured percussionist Todd Steward and vocalist Holly Hafermann.
"SFHF: Incomplete Transmissions" is an infinitely more enjoyable listen than the original, laboriously song-heavy version. Put your Sci Fi dancin' shoes on!
